Dental implants are designed to replace real teeth, but do they feel like real teeth? They'll take some getting used to. But not long after having your dental implants placed, healed and topped with a crown, you'll start forgetting that you've had a tooth or teeth replaced. Get a better picture of how your new dental implants will feel.

Your dental implant will look just a like a real tooth and will blend in with the natural teeth around it. The implant itself is a post, typically made of titanium, that is embedded into the jawbone. The post itself fuses to the bone through a process called osseointegration. The top part of the post is then capped with a natural-looking crown that is shaped and colored to look like your natural teeth. You might not even be able to tell the difference!

There are fewer restrictions when it comes to using dental implants than other types of prosthodontics, such as traditional dentures. With implants, you do not have to worry about it slipping out of place. Once the implant is fully healed and fused to the bone, you should be able to eat most or all of your favorite foods without concern. Just make sure you properly brush and floss your teeth twice a day like normal and keep all of your dental checkups. This will help to head off any potential issues before they escalate.

Most of all, dental implants restore your confidence by looking and functioning just like your real teeth. In fact, it is unlikely that anyone will even be able to tell that you have an implant unless you show them or tell them.
